  • If you are a company, outsource your servers to a datacenter . Datacenters are able to realizes economy of scale for the energy.- Make sure that the power management functions are correctly configured in order to make sure that the energy is used correctly.
  • Tun off your computer, monitor, laptop, speaker, printer  when you do not use it it will extends its lifetime . Even when your computer is asleep it consumes energy.Leaving a computer running the whole year will cost you more than 1,000 kWh/y, or almost as much a the total electricity consumption of a high-efficiency household.
  • Use one large power strip for your computer, broadband modem, scanner, printer, monitor, and speakers. Switch it off when equipment is not in use. This is a practical way to cut 200 kWh/y or more of standby losses.
  • Buy a laptop instead of a desktop. It consumes several times less electricity.
  • Make a sign for inside the front door that says “last one out turns off the lights, the printers, the fax machine etc....” 
  • You can use a small program to manage the energy on your computer (e.g. http://co2saver.snap.com/index.php)
  • For 20% of the cost of buying a whole new ink cartridge for your printer, you can get it refilled
  • Buy green electricty or used alternative energy ( wind, solar,...)
